How Pixeltree used AI to enhance a work-integrated learning catalogue.

AI generated job descriptions.
We designed and developed a work-integrated learning catalogue that displays programs listings provided by Calgary-based post secondary institutions. Employers browse these listings to find students for jobs. Once an employer finds aligned programs, they create a job description and write a job posting for students to apply for.
In the legacy catalogue, this process was tedious for employers to find relevant programs. They had to rely on scanning and hunting through hundreds of program descriptions to find useful information. If they found a resonant program, they then had to write up a job description and post it in the employer portal.
We held a group interview with employers who had used the legacy version of the WIL catalogue and NOC codes came up. NOC codes are standardized numeric codes that represent specific jobs and the skills and duties affiliated with them. Adding the ability to assign NOC codes to listings is useful by itself since employers can get a much clearer picture of the skills being developed in these institutions.
Taking it a step further, we added a feature where employers can bookmark relevant listings and then use AI to analyze their NOC codes to generate a job description in under 10 seconds. Needless to say, this helps employers find what they’re looking for much faster and saves them a lot of time writing job descriptions.

Done! The description is created to specifically speak to the skills and proficiencies affiliated with NOC codes in one, or more, bookmarked program listings. The employer can copy and paste the job description whenever they need and make any modifications they like.
